Description

The Trace Mercury Detector is a sonar-like device used by fishermen used to detect trace amounts of mercury present in fish. Due to overfishing by East Asian countries (mainly Japan) the fishing industry has suffered a massive setback. The trace mercury detector was designed to focus fishing efforts in places that still have fish, as many bodies of water have run out. It attaches to the end of fisherman's boats and has a rod that extends down into the water that can point to trace amounts of mercury present within a three mile radius. These devices have allowed fishermen to track down more fish and bring in larger profits while continually providing food to Korea.
